| Biscay Triangle News |
All the 9 remaining yachts of the Biscay Triangle arrived in La Trinité one day ahead of time, yesterday, Friday 1st August. We managed to squeeze them in to a very full marina, but they had to spend the night on a very exposed pontoon, rocking and rolling all night long. The robust weather is what disuaded them all from spending a night at anchor at the nearby island of Houat. Most had arrived there on Thursday afternoon, and the tail enders pitched up at the anchorage in a gale at 2 o'clock in the morning. Norrsken suffered a failure of his elecronic navigation systems just in the last 5 miles of the journey, so Perelandra courageously turned round and went back, in the dark and rain, to lead them around the rocks and into the anchorage.
Busy berthing requires careful strategy...
Today we have been playing the game of 'grab-the-berth'. As soon as a yacht looked like leaving the visitors' pontoon, a crowd of ralliers would defend the space until a rally yacht could be repositioned from rock & roll pontoon. We have managed to get all but Blue Magic and Perelandra into good positions. Perelandra is at least in a sheltered spot, even if she is some distance from other ralliers.
