Everything is now set up in Benodet for the arrival of the Biscay Triangle rally yachts. Tony and Christine Diment arrived here yesterday and berthing is arranged for the rally in the Sainte Marine marina (West side of the River Odet opposite Benodet).
As may be imagined everyone may be rather shoe-horned into the marina as it is extremely busy being full high season but the harbour master is trying his best to accommodate us at the very short notice. At least 14 yachts are expected to arrive, starting with the first sometime this evening (Saturday 25th July) .
A Spanish tapas evening (to make up for the one missed in La Coruna) with wine at the cafe de la Cale in the very pretty Breton village of Sainte Marine will be available for arrivals tomorrow evening (Sunday) followed by dinner at the Hotel du Bac. It is expected that the forecast beautiful weather, (which will be most gratefully awaited), for next week will allow a leisurely cruise possibly via the Iles de Glenan towards Vannes in the Morbihan before moving on to La Trinite to catch up with the original itinerary.
Recent updates have been received from `Johanem' who had autopilot problems necessitating hand-steering across the channel. At 1000am French time they reported being in the Chenal du Four, having made a quick fix to their autopilot, heading for the raz de sein and hoping to make Benodet later today.
Another call has been received from `Sea Fox', also in the Chenal du Four who may put into Camaret if they consider that they will run out of tide before being able to make the Raz de Sein.
Everything is set fair for a great week in France. The weather is forecast to become hot and sunny, the wind is in a friendly Westerly direction and some exciting plans are being made for exploring Brittany's beautiful coastline. Watch this space ...
