Bionic Un sends our report today. They have sailed the most southerly course of the fleet and hope their tactic of picking up the easterly trade winds first will pay off in the long run. Read their blog (click here)
After nearly four days of sailing in search of wind to cross the pond, it has finally arrived on time and intensity as forecast obtained 24 hours earlier. During these days we have been forced to motor sail far, almost 70%, since there was virtually no wind for most of the time. Yesterday we had the opportunity to sail a good time with the asymmetrical spinnaker; it was a real joy.
We continue our journey south to Cape Verde to turn then to the west with the trade winds towing us along. We are however awaiting the signs to see if we decide to pass the Cape Verdes archipelago to the east or the west.
