Tony Diment has been a director of the company since it started. When he is not sailing his Najad (currently somewhere off the eastern american seaboard) he hops off to foreign parts to support the rally around the world. He is also the mastermind behind our Biscay Triangle Rally. Tony is an Ocean Yachtmaster, with years of sailing under his keel. He and his wife Christine competed together in many dinghy classes, when they were 'sweet young things', and now they sail the oceans in their beloved "Pelagia". 2009 sees Tony supporting his 8th Blue Water Rally, so he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table.
Richard Bolt, who was our manager, has now joined the company as a director and taken over the role of new business acquisition from Peter Seymour. This is Richard's 4th Blue Water rally since he started working with the company in 2003. Richard, an Offshore Yachtmaster with a sizeable score of ocean miles to his credit, has been sailing since he was five years old. You will see him on the beaches and pontoons of quite a few of the exotic locations the rally has the joy of visiting.
"Boot" Bolt (don't ask it's a long story!), Richard's wife, has taken over from Annette in the essential role of Rally Secretary. It is her job to bring order to the masses of information and enquiries the company has to deal with. Boot would not describe herself as an avid offshore sailor, having a fond affection for clutching buckets when she sails offshore, but she has been known to sweep away the opposition in Enterprizes in her recent youth, especially in Berlin where she used to race against Richard rather than with him.
We are joined this year by our part-time manager, Fionn McKee. Fionn has a fair bit of offshore experience, but has spent a number of years managing yachting rallies for ..Sh! you know who. So he has lots of experience to assist our crews at their far flung ports of call. His energy and ideas will be livening up a few of the stopovers around the world over the next 2 years.
Last, but by no means least, our MD, Chris Mounsey, does not take an active role with the support team, but he does keep a strong hand on the tiller. Chris sailed the first, Tradewinds, rally and was a founder member of Blue Water Rallies Limited.Peter and Annette, having left our fold, have not lost touch with the company. Peter is still a major shareholder and keeps an active interest in what is going on. His advice and support are never far from hand. We thoroughly appreciate the support and wisdom they have brought to the company since they helped start it as founder members, and we wish them well in retirement.
