LONDON EXCEL BOAT SHOW A GREAT SUCCESS - SIGNINGS FOR BLUE WATER RALLY 2009

The London Boat Show was busier than ever for us this year. Sited in the North Hall of the Excel Exhibition Centre the Blue Water Rallies stand with its striking background displays drew a constant flow of visitors and enquiries about our events throughout the 10 days of the Show. It was also a focus for many ex-Ralliers who we were delighted to see again and to catch up with their news.

We were particularly delighted to meet the many overseas visitors who had made a special journey to enquire about our next world Rally, the Blue Water Rally 2009-11, and to sign up for the event. By the end of the Show it was obvious that the 2009 event will be a very popular one and as a reflection on the high regard for our world rallies, 10 bookings had been made, including entries from Germany and Spain. First to sign up and to receive a complimentary bottle of champagne were Rob and Julia Mackay from Essex who will be sailing their Jeanneau “Persuasion” around the world with us in 2009.

Enquiries for our 2008 events were at record levels and we expect an excellent turnout for our rallies this year. We are also expecting a very good attendance at our Bluewater Seminar which we shall be running jointly with Yachting Monthly during the Southampton Boat Show on 13th September with world expert Nigel Calder as our guest speaker. Our partnership with Yachting Monthly was also reflected at Excel when Editor Paul Gelder and Blue Water Rallies’ Peter Seymour gave a “Meet the Experts” presentation on the Main Stage of the Show entitled “ From Biscay to Bluewater”.

It takes place at holiday time encouraging families to take part, there is a daily radio-reporting net, a professional organisation at stopovers and camaraderie and social activities in harbour at Torquay, La Coruna in NW Spain and La Trinite in Brittany.
